One last box from the CSA

City Commons CSA Thanksgiving box

I forgot all about it. It was ten months ago, that’s my excuse – but I had completely forgotten that I had one more box coming from City Commons CSA: the Thanksgiving Box. Imagine my surprise, when the email came: come get your box on Monday.

I double-checked, and sure enough, I did order one last box: the big one that the CSA supplies for Thanksgiving feasts. And oh boy, what a feast is in here! The box held 2 butternut squashes, Napa cabbage, two kinds of kale, carrots, sun chokes (Jerusalem artichokes), daikon radishes, beets, salad radishes, green onions, spicy greens, baby lettuce, collard greens, sweet potatoes, several kinds of herbs, and even some freshly-dug horseradish!

As the wind picks up, and the temperature plummets back down to the freezing zone, I can stay warm in my kitchen, plotting how to use all the good stuff.

I love my CSA. I’ve already joined for next year.
