No rain today – at least, none this afternoon, and I barely got my toes wet fetching the CSA box. We have the first hints of the fall produce: a lovely orange winter squash. There are also basil, broccoli rabe, slender little green beans, slicing and cherry tomatoes, arugula, red onions, and more hot peppers.
I’m glad there are still luscious tomatoes – but also looking forward to more cool weather veg. I’m looking forward to a chilly evening, when I have plans for that squash! Some ideas for this week:
- pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe
- thick-sliced tomato sandwiches on homemade bread
- slender beans with fresh butter and herbs (haricots vert)
- cherry tomatoes sautéed with garlic and basil
- mac and cheese with winter squash
- pasta with arugula, garlic, & tomatoes
- basil cubes to freeze
